There is now a Star Trek version of Settlers of Catan.
According to Board Game Geek
The one new element in Star Trek Catan compared to the Settlers version is a set of character cards, each featuring one of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scott, Uhura, Chekov, Chapel, Rand or Sarek. Each character card has two special powers that the holder can use on his turn, such as a forced trade.
Comes out in March
That means I have a month and a half to act like I didn’t pee pee my pants pants when I found out this news.
WELP. BYE BYE LATE 20’S. ITS BEEN NICE KNOWIN YA. SEE YOU GUYS NEVER. Unless you want to come over and play that is.
I’m in!!!
First an awesome TNG twitter account, now this! More proof that Star Trek can be cool even with out another JJ Abrams movie!
Woah!
Recently something I love has gotten all jumbled and skewed. I’d like to think at one point I had a large investment in the young ladies who played Women’s Ultimate at MU. I started playing to get better at ultimate to impress some people who will go unnamed. I finished playing not too long ago and left with some of the best friends and experiences that not many organizations at MU could provide.
Sounds great, right? Yeah it is [period].
What I do not get is how people do not get it. I have no one in particular in mind when I say this, but I would like anyone willing to listen to my perspective on this sport to hear:
It’s like a simple cooking recipe:
Ingredients:
Want to play a sport, Want to play on a team, Want to get better and throwing round plastic objects, Want to D some bitches, Want to road trip to other college towns, Want to look cute in a skirt
Directions:
First you have a great attitude and realize that the main goal is to make your team better by improving your own skills in throwing, catching, and cooperation.
Second you go to practice, be on time, and do cool stuff like straight on drills where you count with animals instead of numbers.
Third you go to tournaments and win games and stuff
Fourth, you make friends and take any shots offered by a young woman named Big Red.
Fifth, rinse repeat for the next 4 years.
I know sometimes this may seem idealistic and hard to accomplish, but in essence playing on any team is all about the joy you get from it and the lessons you learn from the sacrifices you have to make for it. Flicks before dicks doesn’t always happen, but maybe if we say it enough someday it will.
Finally you may be wondering to yourself, but Jen, how do I measure myself on by the standards that you have felt so compelled to write about. Ah that question can be easily answered, look at the past season and ask yourself:
Did you make it to tournaments?
Did you not get stuck in a field of mud in Grinnell, Iowa?
Did you help your teammates grow and challenge yourself?
Did you cheer and get all excited and make the n00bs wanna sign up for that 2 year UPA membership?
Did at least one of you throw up at a party?
And, finally, did you sing this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSS5dEeMX64
If yes to the above questions consider yourself a bonified Ultimate Women’s Team (congratufuckinglations, was it that hard?)
Cannot wait to use this quote in a sarcastic/serious matter..
Why is traffic so confusing to people? Do people honestly think the farthest left lane is a magic quick lane for no reason? Those of us who have done this traffic thing once or twice realize that that is the lane where the accident is pushed to the side, so you’re gonna speed your ass up there only to have to beg to be let over. But although those people frustrate me, this post is not about them.
The true decent people of traffic messes (other than the workers who risk their lives to help with the accidents) are the people who just sit their and wait, they let the impatient drivers over when they take the fast lane up, although they’ve been waiting twice as long as them. They don’t give dirty looks. They are probably hoping everyone survived the accident. Driving is a privilege not a right, traffic is like the jury duty of public transportation. Some jerks speed up to the front for their jury exemptions, but your granny, uncle, a soccer mom, and me all sit quietly in the stands and watch the trial.
way back when…it’s cool to see how different the media perceived women with curves!
